Redemption

The mission stands

to save the land

from derisive hate and scorn;

pause in pivot to remember

the duty we have sworn:

To meet another with a mind

open to their sway –

your opinion, even proofed,

mightn’t be the optimal way.

To see the middle as a place

where we can talk

without disgrace

– solutions come

and some may go,

but know that this is where

we must protect our right

to think and speak aloud

without despair.

To look for leaders who have fought

for something learned and rarely taught:

the highest value of our time

is found with courage

through hearts aligned

in dignity and self-respect ~~

we are whimsically imperfect.

Uncivil war taunts the awakened

who see armies forming formidable legions

flanking puppeteer forces of foreign allegiance

– neither side sees their treason egregious.

Angles of madness unfold to reveal

the shape of a beast,

an onus unreal.

In adorned masks of Ire,

Greed blinds to conspire

a world of shadows

parading fancy things

through a revolution of unmet dreams –

unreached not for a lack of determination

but rather for mindless subjugation

of cave dwellers and their kin.

The only way out is through

The only way through is together

The only way together is within.

Peace is but a trifling goal,

for strife will always be

an elemental fracture

of our primal psyche.

Redemption is another world,

one built on soiled ground;

from rubble rise good men and sons,

no queen is left uncrowned.

Lofty words above may turn

people away if they yearn

for a concrete action of salvation

but I can say without hesitation

we find each other between the notes

in the moments we need love most –

and while our desperation sinks

to depths unknown, to edges bleak,

we must look up and for each other

extend our hand to help every mother

and father now or potentially

for we redeem life in Unity.
